Vegan Bourbon Sauce

This Is The Magic Dessert Sauce Topper
Pour this Vegan Bourbon Sauce on most cakes, puddings, ice cream, pancakes and just about any one of your favorite sweets. I like this sauce hot. Yes, it does have real bourbon in it, but the alcohol is cooked off. Then you are left with a very delicious sauce. Even young people will like this sauce but that is at your discretion.

How To Make Vegan Bourbon Sauce
Making Vegan Bourbon Sauce is a piece of cake or rather better on a piece of cake. I added two extra ingredients to my old Bourbon Sauce and found that I like this version better. Adding a teaspoon of vanilla really pushed the flavor of the sauce because vanilla really adds to the flavor of what is already there. Then adding a little pinch of sea salt really brought out the bourbon flavors. I think this was the key element that really makes this sauce. I know something so small could really make such a big difference but it does.

Really all you need are 6 ingredients to make this delicious sauce. You have to have some sort of cream so I chose coconut cream and it worked so well with the other flavors. I used agave as my sweetener of choice and it worked well because it is a liquid sweetener. I would like to try maple syrup on my next batch of sauce. Not sure how the bourbon and maple flavors would mingle but I will find out.
Picking Bourbon For Vegan Bourbon Sauce
I have to say I am not a whiskey drinker but my honey is so he doesn’t mind buying different kinds for me to experiment with. Bourbons are very different in intensity and taste. I prefer the heavy oaky tasting ones with chocolate or heavy flavored desserts. The lighter oak and more vanilla under tons bourbons pair better with a lighter flavor like vanilla ice cream, strawberry, almond, blueberry or a white cake. I guess it is each to your own in flavor preference.

These are the two bourbons I use the most. Both very affordable as well. The Paddleford Creek whiskey has a little bit of a bite to it but a nice vanilla after taste. Great for cooking. The McFarlane’s Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon (straight meaning the bourbon has been aged for a minimum of two years) is a stronger more oaky flavored whiskey. So it all depends on what you are looking for in your flavor of your sauce. I like the oak flavor in this one but the historic story of the whiskey rebellion of 1794 and what happened to McFarlane is an American tribute to clashes and rebellions of their time. It is worth it for a good read on the back of the bottle because of the history.
I have done my research on bourbon and how it is filtered. On the vegan plus side, to my findings all bourbons are filtered through charcoal. This leaves out any possibility to any harm or use of animal byproducts. Bourbons are vegan! So experiment and enjoy enhancing your desserts with this delicious Vegan Bourbon Sauce. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
