History Of Coconut Water

Coconut water was used thousands of years ago by warriors, hunters and farmers to keep up their energy. This drinkable water from the inside of a ripe coconut has been used as a hydration replacement for water. Not only is it a thirst quencher but it is also full of natural electrolytes.

This tropical hydration remedy has even been recorded in remote areas of Cambodia from 1975 to 1979 for being used on medical patients when saline was close to being low. Being that it was being used almost as an experimental level crimes against humanity were sited for using this magical coconut water. Who knows the true answer to if it really worked as saline.

Being that coconut water has really only been around in mainstream markets for only the last 15 years, it has boomed in popularity. It went from almost non-existent in 2004 to 2009 to a low $35 million industry, to today being the coconut water monster industry that is worth over a billion dollars. Indeed it’s popularity is still growing!

What Is Coconut Water Made Of

Even though coconut water is 95% water, it is packed with other nutrients. A vital list for why it is good for you is potassium, vitamin C, vitamin E, protein, magnesium, sodium, calcium and fiber. The human body is mostly made up of potassium to function and when we sweat we lose mostly potassium, sodium, minerals and chloride. 90% of the human body is made up of potassium that lies within the cellular walls.

So after a workout or in the hot sun a glass of coconut water will help replenish the electrolytes that you have lost from sweating.

I particularly like CO2 Coconut Water. It is certified NON-GMO and not from concentrate.

Give it a try and see how you like it. It has a mild sodium and coconut taste. If you don’t like it you can disguise it with other fruit flavors. I love this Non-Alcoholic Margarita Electrolyte Drink. Who doesn’t like a great tasting margarita. Also, I enjoy this Lakewood Organic Pure Lime Juice to make this great tasting drink. It is a brand made in Florida and without GMO’s. It is distributed throughout the United States.

How To Make Non-Alcoholic Margarita Electrolyte Drink

I start this recipe drink by putting the rim of a small glass upside down in a shallow bowl of water. I submerge the glass to about a half of an inch. Then I pour pink Himalayan salt into a small plate or shallow bowl and dip the glass upside down into the salt. The salt will nicely cling to the glass.

It maybe a little thick. I like it thick but, if it is thicker then you would like it, just rinse it off. Dry the glass and start over to the amount of salt you prefer. Just don’t dip it too deep into the salt because you will end up with a mouth full of salt when you drink it.

After adding the salt pour without hitting the salt the coconut water, lime juice, orange juice and maple syrup. Stir it and add the ice to the top of the glass. Stir it again and it is ready to drink. Perfect thirst quencher!
