First as always lets look at a little party food history. It’s so fun to see where and what historical facts our food came from. Sometimes I find even funny stories.
A Little History On Party Foods
I think when we look back at where finger foods came from we tend to focus on France. Hence, the common well known appetizer word of ‘her d’oeuvre‘ and the French canapé.
In the Middle Ages a decorative formal meal was served with something called a entremets which ment “between meals” These dishes were served between courses of the meal. They were often served with performances and entertainment often as edible scenic displays and illusion foods and mainly savory.

In the 19th century the British took a leap into the enjoyment of entertaining with her d’oeuvres before dinner. With this came the ever so popular cocktail party. These small gatherings were served mixed drinks and her d’oeuvres as only small portions of food with no dinner.
Later during the American Prohibition in the 1920’s speakeasies were created to hide from drinking. People drank in secret and in order not to be detected from inebriation speakeasies would serve finger foods throughout the evening. These small bits of food allowed people to drink in one hand and eat in the other. In repeal of Prohibition this gave hopes of not getting caught from being drunk.
Today finger foods have transformed in many ways. From parties, weddings, receptions, sports to sides to lunch or dinner, or just as dinner its self. Although, the biggest home spread of appetizer finger foods are for Super Bowl Sunday. The American highlight of social gatherings to commune in food, drink and socialization. Making this event a convenience to grabbing small bites, so as not to make messes during active moments of excitement. This embraces my creation of these Easy Party Pizza Wheels. I hope you like them. Enjoy!

How To Make Easy Party Pizza Wheels
I first start by making or buying a premade pizza dough in a bag from the grocery store. I love the convenance of this. It’s so quick and easy.
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees or 218 C.
Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle with a rolling pin on a clean floured surface. Roll it out to about 12 X 18 inches in shape.

Add the pizza sauce and spread it out evenly to a inch from the sides.

Add a sprinkle of dried basil and smoked paprika all over the pizza sauce. Next add the minced garlic and shredded cheese of choice. I like my cheese with a little spice and I used vegan Daiya spicy monterey jack sheds.

Spread it out as if you are making a real pizza. Then add the chopped vegetables and olives and crumbled vegan sausage.

Start with the long side and roll the dough inward like a cinnamon roll. When done with a very sharp knife (I use Ninja Knives) cut 1 1/2 inch slices. It should make 24 wheels.

Transfer the pizza sliced wheels onto a well greased sheet pan or non stick sheep pan. Put it in the oven and bake for 14 to 15 minutes or until golden in color.

Serve hot out of the oven. Make a side of heated pizza sauce or marinara sauce on the side for dipping if you want that extra little something fun and tasty on the side.
I hope you like these delicious fun Easy Party Pizza Wheels as much as we do. Enjoy!
