A Little History On Chocolate
The history of chocolate goes on and on. It is really thick with where it came from and still evolving into the present day on how it is used. Let’s just start with where it came from. We can go back as far 1200 B.C. It was discovered by one of the earliest Latin American civilizations by the Omec people. They were the first to cultivate and consume the cocoa. They made the cacao plant into chocolate, drank it and used it in their rituals.

The Mayans marveled over the drink after mixing it with honey, water or chilies. After making this concoction they called it the drink from the Gods and had it after every meal.

The Aztecs used the cocoa bean as currency and valued it for being more then gold. They saw it as a gift from their God Quetzalcoat and believed it to be an aphrodisiac. They also drank it before going to war.
When Columbus was on his fourth journey to America he landed in Nicaragua and discovered this unusual bean being used as currency back in 1502. He didn’t realize how cocoa would someday explode in the world market.

However, to take the world by storm a Spanish explorer Hernan Cortes in 1528 brought it back to Spain where the Spaniards added sugar. Amazing! We all know what happened after that. Chocolate is now enjoyed by the entire world and used in all sorts of ways. It is especially enjoyed as a sweet treat like this Easy Individual Chocolate Protein Oat Cake that I have for you here today. I hope you like it!
A Good Chocolate Protein Powders
I think people all have their different taste when picking out a chocolate protein powder. I prefer a couple different brands, like Earth Chimp, Orgain, Dr. Gundry MD Propand Complete Shake (great rich chocolate flavor), SunWarrior, Epic Protein and Nature-Powered KOS. I’m sure there are some other brands that are plant based that are fantastic. If you have one please send me an e-mail and let me know. I love trying out new plant based protein powders.

This is the Chocolate cocoa powder brand I love to use for baking. It’s so good!

How To Make Easy Individual Chocolate Protein Oat Cake
Really when I say this is easy, “It is easy!” Start with the flaxseed egg first. Mix the water and the flaxseed meal together and let it sit for 5 minutes. This is when you can get the rest of the ingredients out and the measuring spoons that you are going to use. Spray the baking dish or ramekin at this time and preheat oven at 350º degrees.

When it has congealed add the plant based milk (I use coconut milk, as always it’s my favorite milk). Then add the maple syrup, nut butter and vanilla extract. Mix it all together and whisk until smooth. Then mix in the dry ingredients with a spoon. You may have to add more plant based milk if your protein powder is really thick. This is when you can add chocolate chips, nuts, dried fruits or berries.

How To Bake Chocolate Protein Oat Cake
Transfer to the prepared 10 oz. ramekin or very small 10oz. baking dish and top with nuts or chocolate chips if desired. Put it in the pre-heated oven and bake for 18 to 25 minutes. Bake until toothpick comes out clean. This is a big window of baking time because all protein powders are different in consistency.

Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes after taking out of the oven. Top with nuts, fresh berries, chocolate sauce and or vegan whip cream. I hope you like this recipe as much as we do. Enjoy!
